Bedtime Math

Serving: throughout US and international
The mission of Bedtime Math is to help kids love numbers so they can handle the math in real life. Bedtime Math makes math part of the family routine. Every day, you can serve up a quick bite of wacky math just for fun. It’s nothing like school. Parents can sign up by email, on our website, and on our free app. Whether it’s flamingos, ninjas or pillow forts, kids can see the math in their favorite topics. No logins. No drilling. No scores. It takes only 5 minutes a day, and kids clamor for it.

Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics

Serving: New York City and Los Angeles, US
BEAM provides day and residential summer programs designed to expose students to challenging math for the first time, followed by five years of mentoring, and college support.

National Association of Math Circles

Serving: US and international
Although the National Association of Math Circles is a project of MSRI, separately listed in this archive, it is beyond the scope of this archive to list each individual active math circle. (You can access a directory of individual circles via the more information link.) Rather, this entry serves as a placeholder for the very important collection of math circles which bring the joy of mathematical discovery to thousands of people. In the words of NAMC, "Math Circles … bring … students together with mathematically sophisticated leaders in an informal setting … to work on interesting problems or topics in mathematics."

Arizona Mathematics Road Show

Serving: primarily Arizona, US; occasionally throughout the US
The world is full of mathematics - the physical world and the world of our imagination. But in school children rarely learn about the directions that learning math can lead them in. The Arizona Math Road Show is about to show them, via a mobile Math outreach program.

The STEAM Factory at OSU

Founded by a collection of young and energetic Ohio State faculty, postdocs and staff, the STEAM Factory is a diverse and inclusive grass-roots network in the Ohio State community that facilitates creative and interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation and dissemination.

National Museum of Mathematics

Mathematics illuminates the patterns that abound in our world. The National Museum of Mathematics strives to enhance public understanding and perception of mathematics. Its dynamic exhibits and programs stimulate inquiry, spark curiosity, and reveal the wonders of mathematics. The Museum’s activities lead a broad and diverse audience to understand the evolving, creative, human, and aesthetic nature of mathematics.

Math Cultural Center of Chicago

Math is not just a set of tools and techniques. It has a fascinating history made of incredible anecdotes and inspiring stories. It has strong connections to the world and there are many channels to appreciate math: by doing, thinking, listening, observing, feeling, creating - and not just by calculating.

Association for Women in Mathematics

Serving: throughout US
The Association for Women in Mathematics knows it is important to have a presence at math and STEM fairs
  1. to celebrate mathematics, and
  2. to serve as role models for women doing math.
AWM wants to help change the dialogue around what it means to be a mathematician, so as women in math, it matters that as an organization the AWM  is visible to young women and men, to let them know that math is for everyone.

Mathematical Sciences Research Institute

Serving: primarily bay area in California; some throughout US
MSRI's public programs aim to make mathematics accessible and exciting to those outside the field, showcasing the beauty and importance of math to people of all ages and backgrounds. MSRI does this through initiatives ranging from production of films for public television and internet viewers to nationwide festivals, annual awards, and Bay Area community programming.

Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival

Serving: primarily throughout United States, some international
Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival supports locally organized events that inspire K–12 students to think critically and to explore the richness and beauty of mathematics through collaborative, creative problem-solving. JRMF's Festivals engage many types of students, including those who don’t enjoy competition or working under time pressure. A Festival is also a community event, bringing together institutions and organizations as their constituents celebrate mathematics.
