More than 170 exhibits at the Mathematikum open a new door to mathematics. Visitors of all ages and educational backgrounds experiment: they solve puzzles, build bridges, stand in a giant soap bubble, see themselves infinite times in a mirror and much more.

California Math Festivals

Serving: California, US
Math Festivals are special events that demonstrate to students the importance of Mathematics, a subject EVERYONE can enjoy, marvel at, and have success. Students working with a partner choose a station to visit and work at that activity as long as they wish, working harder and harder problems. When they are ready, they move to another station and do a completely different activity. Each station has challenging tasks of different levels of difficulty, some very easy for young primary students, and some hard enough to challenge adults! The students walk away from their time at the Math Festival thinking that math is fun, interesting, AND that they CAN DO IT.

Bedtime Math

The mission of Bedtime Math is to help kids love numbers so they can handle the math in real life. Bedtime Math makes math part of the family routine. Every day, you can serve up a quick bite of wacky math just for fun. It’s nothing like school. Parents can sign up by email, on our website, and on our free app. Whether it’s flamingos, ninjas or pillow forts, kids can see the math in their favorite topics. No logins. No drilling. No scores. It takes only 5 minutes a day, and kids clamor for it.

Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics

BEAM provides day and residential summer programs designed to expose students to challenging math for the first time, followed by five years of mentoring, and college support.

National Association of Math Circles

Although the National Association of Math Circles is a project of MSRI, separately listed in this archive, it is beyond the scope of this archive to list each individual active math circle. (You can access a directory of individual circles via the more information link.) Rather, this entry serves as a placeholder for the very important collection of math circles which bring the joy of mathematical discovery to thousands of people. In the words of NAMC, "Math Circles … bring … students together with mathematically sophisticated leaders in an informal setting … to work on interesting problems or topics in mathematics."

Arizona Mathematics Road Show
